VC invites community to share student, graduate success stories for Community College Month

VC celebrates #CCMonth in April.

Victoria College is joining the nation in recognizing April as Community College Month in celebration of the vital role community colleges play in providing accessible, high-quality education.

Throughout April, VC will be highlighting student and alumni stories on social media. VC alumni, students, employees and the community are invited to join the celebration by sharing their favorite VC memories or the achievements of a current student or graduate. Participants are encouraged to tag @VictoriaCollege on Facebook and Instagram and to use #CCMonth and #VCStrong to join the national conversation.

“We are inspired every day by our alumni who have achieved upward economic mobility through their education and workforce training at Victoria College,” said Dr. Jennifer Kent, VC President. “Their success stories are a powerful testament to the impact of accessible, high-quality education that leads to good jobs in the region.”

Community College Month, spearheaded by the Association of Community College Trustees, aims to raise awareness of the economic and academic benefits of attending a community college.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to interact throughout the community with healthcare professionals, industrial technicians and public service employees who got their start at VC and have since entered good careers,” said Kent. “People who grow up in rural areas should have a path to stay in their hometowns without sacrificing career opportunities, and that's exactly why we have community colleges.”

The public can also nominate VC students and alumni for a spotlight by emailing Marketing@VictoriaCollege.edu.
