Academy of Lifelong Learning members create ‘Empty Bowls’

Members of Victoria College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning demonstrated their artistic side by creating ceramic bowls to be donated to the annual Empty Bowls event held in the VC Student Center on Sunday, Feb. 8. More than 30 bowls were created by the group. Members displaying their bowls are, seated, from left: Helen Boatman, Pamela Johnson, Ingrid Kabela, Debbie Wuest and Pamela Railsback. Standing from left are: Fran Silvers, Monika Janak, Empty Bowls Co-Chair Debra Chronister, Linda Lockhart, Empty Bowls Co-Chair Sherri Pall, and Mary Nell Murray. “For the majority of the members, this was their first experience with clay, and they were so eager to learn,” said Pall, who taught the bowl-making class. “We were all like children unwrapping presents on Christmas morning as we opened the kiln to see the finished work.”
