A BOMB THREAT will be treated as a LEVEL 3 emergency in most cases. However if you are the person contacted regarding a bomb threat, these steps should be followed:
1. Ask the caller to identify:
a. the building in question
b. the time of the setting
c. the location of the bomb
d. the type of bomb
e. the reason for placing the bomb on campus
2. If possible, notify someone near you that you are receiving a bomb threat and to notify the police. After notifying the police, call campus security, the President or one of the Vice Presidents.
3. Make yourself available to security, as they will need any information you can provide.
4. The decision to vacate the building in question will be made by the police, president or campus security.
5. If the building is to be evacuated, each instructor will be notified. In evacuating his/her class each instructor should:
a. Briefly scan the room interior for any object that appears out of the ordinary. Do not attempt to remove the object but notify security personnel of your concern.
b. Instruct students to remove all personal belongings such as coats and backpacks to simplify the search process by security.
