About CARS Centers
Title V Grant

Project Higher Education Learning Pathways (Project HELP) offers a College Partnership Program designed to keep education within reach for Hispanic, low-income, and other underserved students within the Golden Crescent Region of South Texas.  As a result of Project HELP, CARS Centers were formed in partnering high schools.

CARS Centers are VC-operated College Access Resources and Success (CARS) Centers.  CARS Centers provide students with college entrance testing, career exploration, and other assessments which help establish and enhance their academic skills.  Non-academic skills such as time management, effective note-taking, study skills, and test taking skills are also addressed.  CARS Centers provide information on colleges, universities, vocational/trade schools, and military opportunities.  Additionally, a VC pre-college advisor is available in the CARS Center to assist student throughout the school year.  Students have access to computers so that they may explore other information on colleges/universities, careers, scholarships, and financial aid.  Parents are always welcome to visit the CARS Centers.

The emphasis of this project component is to help students transition successfully from high school to college.  These goals and more information on CARS Centers is found in a Career Focus Magazine feature.
