About Our Programs…The Computer Science (CIS) department offers two A.A.S. programs: Network Administration / Wide-Area Telecommunications and WebPage/Digital Multimedia and Information Resource Design. All courses are developed, approved, and implemented in coordination with the CIS advisory committee, a body of professionals in businesss, information processing, web page design and development, and networking. The curriculum mirrors local, regional, and statewide demands that lead to successful participation in a global economy. The CIS Department also offers a transfer plan for students majoring in computer science as well as one-year certificate programs for those students who wish to develop skills in specialized areas of digital media and networking. Degree PlansStudents enrolling in Computer Science degree programs should make every possible effort to complete courses in the required sequence. When circumstances warrant deviation from prescribed plans, the student’s assigned faculty advisor must be consulted for approval of changes including, but not limited to, substitution of courses, waiver of prerequisites, and permission to take courses concurrently. The Victoria College Computer Science department provides multiple exit points through degree plans of varying lengths. Certificates range from 18 to 51 credit hours, while the A.A.S. degrees require 67-68 hours. The Suggested Computer Science Transfer Plan provides students with Freshman and Sophomore courses required to transfer to a Baccalaureate degree-granting institution.
