VC’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department offers four levels of electrical training courses ranging from an introductory level to an advanced level. Upon successful completion of each course, students will be prepared to continue to the next level or begin working in an entry-level electrical position.

Electricians install and maintain electrical and powering systems in homes, businesses, and factories. VC’s courses are taught by experienced instructors who provide the knowledge and skills necessary for you to begin working as an electrician.

Course concepts and topics are presented by experienced professionals and combine illustrated instructional materials and structured classroom activities including:

  • Electrical safety
  • Introduction to electrical circuits
  • Electric lighting
  • Conduit bending
  • Pull and junction boxes
  • Ground fault
  • Power factor correction
  • Protective devices
  • Basic electronic theory
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Specialty transformers
  • Advanced controls
  • HVAC controls

VC also offers a license renewal course that provides updates on the latest edition of the National Electrical Code to help licensed professionals meet recertification requirements.
