Victoria College’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department offers training in Electronic Health Records. EHR technicians work with electronic health records, evaluate filing systems and equipment, and maintain database records according to information management theory.
This 7-week training course will prepare you for an electronic health records support position. Coursework provides skills and knowledge in the health information field related to electronic health records management.
EHR support personnel include:
- Medical office scribe
- Registration staff
- Admitting and receptionist staff
- Nursing unit computer support
Course content will include the transition from paper to electronic records for office practices, clinical settings, and acute/long term care facilities.
Topics also included are:
- Personal health records
- Clinical documentation
- Coding and standardization of computer languages
- Medical terminology basics
- Evaluation of filing systems and equipment
- Maintenance of database records according to information management theory
Upon successful course completion, you will be ready to work in a medical office environment with electronic health records, evaluate filing systems and equipment, and maintain database records according to information management theory.
