GED Practice Exam

The Adult Education Center at Victoria College offers a free GED Official Practice Test (OPT) that helps determine readiness for the GED exam. This is a free practice test and it is not necessary to be enrolled in the Adult Education Program to take it.

The OPT is given on specific days and times and no appointment is needed. The practice test is shorter than the official test and allows less time for completion, but the questions are designed to be a representation of what will actually be encountered on the official exam.

The OPT covers the same five components as the official exam, including Math, Language Arts reading, Language Arts writing, Social Studies and Science. A score on the practice exam greater than 500 results in a referral to the Testing Center at VC to arrange to take the official GED exam. A score of less than 500 will result in a referral for more tutoring or classes.

While the practice exam is free, the official GED exam is $105. Students will need to make arrangements to take the official exam at the VC Testing Center.

Contact the Adult Education Center to learn about days and times the OPT is offered.
