Victoria College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Training Department was presented with the Exceeding Expectations Award at the Texas Department of Public Safety/Motorcycle Safety Annual Conference held earlier this month in Austin.

VC is one of over 100 training providers for the motorcycle operator training program in Texas.  The award recognized VC’s program for conducting a community outreach event to promote local motorcycle safety last September.

The on-going program is a motorcycle awareness campaign to remind automobile drivers to look twice for motorcycles. In partnership with Dale’s Fun Center, Velocity Powersports, Victoria Harley-Davidson and Victoria Ironworks, VC launched this community motorcycle awareness campaign beginning with a motorcycle awareness ride called “Can You See Me Now?”  The event gathered more than 230 motorcyclists who rode with a police escort through Victoria’s major thoroughfares.

“We are honored to have been recognized by the State and very pleased that our motorcycle safety awareness campaign was so successful,” said Sherri Pall, continuing education and workforce training director for VC.

The conference is held each year and includes RiderCoaches and program administrators from every motorcycle operator training program in Texas, along with state officials from the Department of Public Safety. Representing VC along with Pall were VC RiderCoaches Merlyn Hartman, Stephen Fuhrman, John Davis and Eric Hart.
