VC to offer commercial truck driving course in Gonzales

Beginning Monday, Feb. 28, Victoria College will offer its commercial truck driving course at the Gonzales Center. The class will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Apr. 22.

The Commercial Truck Driving Program at Victoria College provides training for entry-level employment in the trucking industry. This workforce training program combines classroom instruction along with behind-the-wheel driving range activities, including public, street and highway driving along with safety, rules, regulations and techniques.  Students will have the opportunity to meet with industry recruiters.

Upon successful course completion, students will be eligible to take the Commercial Driver License written and driving examinations at the Department of Public Safety. These exams are included as class activities.

Admission requirements include a Valid Texas Driver’s License, successful completion of Department of Transportation physical examination, and drug and alcohol screening. Tuition assistance may be available through Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent, Gonzales County office (830-672-2146), Veterans Affairs (361-572-6405) or individual employers.
