VC offers craft training classes in Port Lavaca

Starting next week, Victoria College will begin several craft training courses offered at the Calhoun County Center and the VC Wilkins Industrial Trade Center.

Construction Site Safety Technician and Electrical II classes each begin Monday, Feb. 7. Construction Site Safety provides an introductory to construction site safety topics and will meet weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 – 9 p.m. through June 15.  Electrical II topics include AC voltage, frequency, mechanical and electrical degrees, waveforms, resistors, capacitors and inductors and will meet each Monday and Wednesday from 6 – 10 p.m. through May 4.

Pipefitting II also begins Monday, Feb. 7. This intermediate course provides training in piping systems including drawings and details sheets, pipefitting trade math, threaded pipe fabrication, socket weld pipe fabrication and more. This class will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 – 9 p.m. through June 6.

HVAC I and Millwright I classes will each begin Tuesday, Feb. 8. HVAC I provides an introduction to HVAC principles. The millwright class will cover orientation to the trade, millwright hand tools, fasteners and anchors, gaskets, o-rings, basic layout and oxyfuel cutting. Both classes are held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 9 p.m. through June 2.

Construction Site Safety, Electrical II and HVAC I classes will be held at the Calhoun County Center at 900 N. Virginia Street in Port Lavaca. Pipefitting II and Millwright I will be held at the VC Wilkins Industrial Trade Center at 211 South Ann Street in Port Lavaca.
