VC offers Medical Assisting Program in Port Lavaca

Victoria College’s Continuing Education Department is now offering a Medical Assisting Program in Port Lavaca. Classes begin February 21 at the Victoria College Calhoun County Center in Port Lavaca.

Students who enroll in the program will attend class every Monday and Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. through Wednesday, April 20. The program includes 144 hours of instruction in a combination of classroom work, class lab activities and clinical practice in a medical office/clinic setting.

The Medical Assisting Program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to function safely and effectively in a medical office/clinic environment where certification is not required. Topics include introduction to the health care system, ethical issues, general office management, basic anatomy and physiology and much more. Total program cost is $225.
