Museum of the Coastal Bend elects new slate of officers for advisory board

The Museum of the Coastal Bend recently elected its new slate of officers for its advisory board to serve in the 2011/2012 fiscal year.

The advisory board includes a chairman, vice-chairman and a secretary/treasurer. Gerald Parker begins his third year as secretary/treasurer, along with new officers Mike Cowley, chairman, and Frank Condron, vice chairman.

According to the museum’s by-laws, the chairman is responsible for presiding over meetings and supervising the director of the museum to ensure the directives set forth by the advisory board are met.

The vice-chairman steps in during the absence of the chairman and the secretary/treasurer ensures that the various administrative processes and financial duties are carried out in accordance with the by-laws.

Cowley is currently a senior vice president at TrustTexas Bank, where he serves as an agricultural and commercial loan officer. A native of Wyoming, Cowley lives in Meyersville with his family. He holds degrees from both Texas A&M University and Michigan State University and has been working in the banking industry for 13 years.

Condron is a retired General Motors engineer now living in Edna. He also serves as chairman on the Jackson County Historical Commission, as president of the United Way of Jackson County and is a member of the Edna ISD district improvement team, along with serving on the board of directors of the Texana Arts Council. Condron holds degrees from the University of Texas-Arlington and Wayne State University.

Returning as secretary/treasurer, Parker is also retired as past-president and co-owner of City Chevrolet in Edna. Prior to that, Parker worked as an aerospace engineer for 13 years. He holds degrees from the University of Florida and the University of Texas-Austin. He has also served as president on the Edna ISD Board of Trustees and has been a member of Rotary International since 1972.
