MCBs Brand Wall exhibit visits the Victoria Public Library

Local brands on exhibit as part of MCB's Brand Wall will be at VPL April 11 - 27.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend, located on the campus of Victoria College, will take its Brand Wall exhibit to the Victoria Public Library beginning Wednesday, April 11.

The museum’s brand wall is a collection of branded wooden tiles that create a living history of ranching in South Texas.  Over 200 ranchers and ranching families from the Crossroads region participated in the creation of the exhibit by burning their brands on the wall tiles in free, interactive events sponsored during 2011 by the Museum of the Coastal Bend.

The wall is part of the museum’s permanent collection and on exhibit as part of “Cattle Boom: Ranching in Victoria and the Texas Coastal Bend, 1845 – 1929.” Ninety-eight tiles from the collection will be on display in the exhibit at Victoria Public Library during their normal operating hours through April 27, including during JAM Fest from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. The library is located at 302 South Main in historic downtown Victoria.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is located on the campus of Victoria College, at the corner of East Red River and Ben Jordan. Admission is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for senior citizens, and $2.00 for students ages 4 years through 8th grade. Admission is free for museum members, faculty, staff and students of Victoria College and the University of Houston - Victoria, and for children under 4 years of age.
