Victoria residents invited to 2012 Bond Election information sessions

VC President Tom Butler

Victoria community members who are interested in learning more about Victoria College’s proposed Emerging Technology Center and the $22 million general obligation bond are invited to attend one of two information sessions this week.

The first information session will be Tuesday, May 1 in the Cade Middle School cafeteria at 611 W. Tropic Drive from 6 to 7 p.m. The second session is scheduled for Thursday, May 3 and will be held in the cafeteria of Howell Middle School at 2502 Fannin, also from 6 to 7 p.m.

Each session will be hosted by VC President Tom Butler and Vice President of College Advancement and External Affairs Jennifer Yancey. Butler and Yancey will share VC’s plans to meet local workforce training needs, and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.

“Meeting current and future workforce needs is an important issue for Victoria,” said Butler, “and community input is essential in determining how to address those needs.”

The bond will be on the May 12 ballot and early voting begins April 30.

“The will of the community is only expressed if everyone votes,” said Butler.
