Pharmacy Technician information session set at Victoria College

Victoria College’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department will host a Pharmacy Technician information session on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the VC Health Sciences Center, Room 130.

Representatives of Boston Reed College will share information and answer questions on the upcoming Pharmacy Technician course, according to Marcela Barrera, Workforce & Continuing Education specialist. Boston Reed also provides financial assistance for students who want to enroll in the course.

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists pack and mix prescriptions, maintain client records, refer clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assist with inventory control and purchasing as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing.

The Pharmacy Technician course, offered by VC in partnership with Boston Reed College, will be held March 23-June 16 from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. each Saturday in VC’s Continuing Education Center, Room 100. The course includes a comprehensive review that prepares students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination. The course includes 77 hours of classroom time covering skills, drills and math practice, and an online theory component through a learning management system.

To take the course, students must be at least 18 years old, have completed high school or its equivalent, and be competent in basic computers, Internet, printing and email usage. Students enrolling in the course must also successfully complete an English and math pre-assessment test.

Financial assistance is available for students who want to enroll in the course.
