Gas kiln has new location at VC

The Wednesday afternoon unloading of ceramics from the gas kiln at its new location in the Fine Arts Building kiln patio brought a celebratory mood to several current and former advanced ceramics students at Victoria College. Ceramic works were loaded into the kiln on Monday and temperatures inside reached 2,245 degrees before the cooling process began. From left, Megan Perez, Cosette Williams, Matthew Durham, Associate Art Professor Debra Chronister, and Gerry Bernhard examine bowls, vases, plates and tea pots. They noticed the differences in the colors and textures of the pieces coming from the gas kiln as opposed to those fired in electric kilns. The works were part of the May 20-June 26 Summer of Clay! classes at Victoria College.
