Community leaders break ground for VCs Emerging Technology Center

The ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for Victoria College’s Emerging Technology Center was held Tuesday morning in the Lone Tree II Industrial Park. The Center will prepare students for jobs in the South Texas area and will meet the training needs of business and industry. It will house specialized training labs for industrial applications, computer labs, traditional classrooms for instruction, meeting rooms, and flexible-use rooms for large-scale corporate events. The facility is expected to be in operation in spring 2015. Turning the first shovelfuls of dirt are: Victoria College President Dr. Tom Butler, VC Board of Trustees Chair Ronald Walker, trustees Robby Burdge, Luis Guerra, Dr. Josie Rivera,  and V. Bland Proctor; Victoria Mayor Paul Polasek, Charles Labay of Drymalla Construction Company, architect Rawley McCoy, Dr. Larry Garrett, Keith Blundell, Dr. Patricia Vandervoort, Dr. Florinda Correa, Jennifer Yancey, Betsy Crane and Sherri Pall, all of Victoria College; Victoria County Judge Don Pozzi, Dennis Patillo, of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation; Lewis Neitsch, president of the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation; and VC mascot Captain Vic.
