Victoria College teaches study skills, degree planning in Student Success Workshops

Eight student workshops will be offered this fall to help Victoria College students set goals and succeed in their studies, finances and careers.

The workshops are free to Victoria College students and high school students taking VC courses.

"Students currently enrolled in EDUC 1300 will be given a College Success Factors Index (CSFI) assessment to determine in what areas they could be at risk,” said Eliza Welder, Title V academic advisor. “The CSFI determines students’ strengths as well as areas in which they need improvement. It then proposes interventions to help them succeed in higher education.”

She said future workshops will be conducted focusing on strengthening areas where students may be at risk.

Victoria College student Natalie Rodriguez attended a recent workshop dealing with personal finances and found it very useful.
“It helped me figure out a better way of understanding my money,” Rodriguez said. “This is a good workshop, especially for those just starting out.”
