Vocational nursing information sessions offered at VC

Victoria College will hold nursing information night sessions on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. for those interested in VC’s Vocational Nursing Program. Both sessions will occur at VC’s Health Sciences Center, Room 132.

Information on the application process, requirements of the VN Program and financial aid will be offered at the sessions.

“The information sessions serve as an opportunity for interested individuals wanting to learn details about the nursing profession,” said Darla Guajardo, VC’s director of nursing. “Additionally, they can have an opportunity to meet faculty and staff and learn significant aspects of the program.”

VC’s Vocational Nursing Program is a one-year certificate program designed to enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies related to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals. Vocational nursing graduates are prepared to function as members of the healthcare team under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians in varied healthcare settings. The Vocational Nursing Program can also serve as a bridge for those wishing to continue into VC’s Associate Degree-Nursing Program to earn certification as a registered nurse.

Upon successful completion of the VN Program, the student will be eligible to  apply to take  the National Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses.
