Caterpillar Foundation, Victoria facility donates $15,000 to TexPREP initiative

The Caterpillar Foundation and the Caterpillar North American Hydraulic Excavator facility in Victoria have donated $15,000 to the Victoria College Foundation to fund the TexPREP initiative. Taking part in the donation are, from left: John Jones, Caterpillar Victoria facility manager; Florinda Correa, VC vice president of Student Services; Melissa Robinson, VC director of Pre-College Programs & Recruitment; Chris Heitzmann, Caterpillar Victoria plant human resource manager; Dr. Tom Butler, VC president; Amy Mundy, VC Foundation executive director; Tiffany Rigby, Caterpillar Victoria plant communications and public affairs manager; and Jennifer Yancey, VC vice president of College Advancement and External  Affairs. The Victoria College TexPrep initiative is a challenging academic enrichment opportunity for middle and high school students and designed to motivate and prepare them for success in advanced studies leading to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The VC TexPREP initiative provides a mathematics-based curriculum with emphasis on the development of abstract reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
