The Museum of the Coastal Bend on the Victoria College campus is hosting a brand-burning event for area ranchers on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 2–6 p.m. This is a come-and-go event.
The activity includes the opportunity for ranchers to burn their livestock brands for inclusion in the museum’s permanent Brand Wall exhibit that currently showcases more than 200 local brands.

“We’ll provide the heat source and a 10x10-inch wooden tile for branding at no charge,” said Sue Prudhomme, director of cultural affairs at VC and director of the museum. “Brand burning will begin at 2 p.m. in the museum’s outdoor demonstration area, and we welcome those who’d just like to come and watch.”

Participants will be asked to complete an information sheet about their brand.

The event will be held during the museum’s annual holiday reception and artisan’s market, which is free and open to brand-burning participants as well as community and museum members.

If you are a rancher interested in participating in the branding activity, please contact Sue Prudhomme at (361) 582-2436 or email to reserve a wooden tile.
