Victoria College offers new physical therapy aide course

To help students gain entry-level skills in patient care, Victoria College is offering a new physical therapy aide course.

This course prepares students on how to provide patient care and assistance for the physical therapist or physical therapists assistant. It teaches the application of basic patient handling, functional skills, communication and selected data collection techniques. Included will be transfer, bed mobility, ambulation and use of assistive devices.

Registration and orientation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 in VC’s Health Sciences Center, Room 229. Classes will be held from March 18 - May 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in HSC Room 229.

Admission requirements include:
•    Validation of immunizations
•    Healthcare provider CPR certification
•    Individual Department of Public Safety background check

Students must wear an approved student uniform to class. Upon successful completion of the course, 64 continuing education units will be awarded.
