VC offers Electronic Health Records course

Registration for Victoria College’s Electronic Health Records course will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in the Health Sciences Center, Room 221, with classes beginning that evening. The classes will meet from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 29 in the same location.

Enrollees in the course must have an associate degree or higher and/or comparable work experience and should understand basic computer operation.

This course provides skills and knowledge in the health information field relating to electronic health records management. The roles of various healthcare support positions such as the medical office scribe, registration, admitting and receptionist staff and nursing unit computer support positions will be included.

Course content will include the transition from paper to electronic records for office practices, clinical settings and acute/long-term care facilities. Lecture, hands-on computer exercises and review of industry literature will be the instructional methods utilized in the class.
