Long-Term Care Activity Director course offered at VC Gonzales Center

A Long-Term Care Activity Director I course will be offered at the Victoria College Gonzales Center on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. July 22-Sept. 23.

The role of the Activity Director in long-term healthcare facilities includes the study of history, regulations, communications, advocacy, ethics, service delivery and volunteer management.

Attendees will be able to:

  •     Discuss the history and regulatory requirements for recreation activity services in long-term care settings
  •     Apply principles of communication, advocacy and ethics to recreation activity service delivery
  •     Demonstrate knowledge of life span development
  •     Demonstrate proper assessment of client needs

Prerequisites include a high school diploma or GED and current (within one year) work experience in healthcare.

The VC Gonzales Center is located at 424 E. Sarah DeWitt Drive in Gonzales.
