Registration underway for three VC healthcare courses

Registration is underway for the following Victoria College healthcare courses:

  • Long-Term Care Activity Director II, in Victoria, where students will learn how to create care plans based on assessment of client needs; design and document leisure and/or therapeutic activities based on client assessment and resources/funding; and evaluate the effectiveness of the entire activity service delivery. Classes will meet from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Saturdays through May 30. Students who have not yet registered for this course may do so the first and second Saturdays in April.
  • Medical Coding I, in Gonzales, where students will learn accurate coding of office procedures for payment/reimbursement by a patient or third party and prevention of insurance fraud. Students will also learn how to describe and explain the differences and similarities among insurance plans. Classes will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays April 8-May 20.
  • Medical Terminology, in Victoria, where students will learn how to identify, pronounce and spell medical terms; use in context, build and analyze medical terms; and use medical references as resource tools. Classes will be held from 5-7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, April 6-May 20.

These are noncredit courses that do not apply toward a credit degree, credit certificate or academic transfer. However, these Workforce & Continuing Education courses can lead to a nationally recognized certificate or state credential.
