Registration is now open for the 2015 Bridges to Success Summit to be held Oct. 16-17 at Victoria College’s Conference & Education Center, a part of the new Emerging Technology Complex. The deadline to register is July 30.

The two-day regional summit, hosted by Victoria College and sponsored by VISD and Region III, is designed for anyone in education and industry who is interested in supporting students as they move through their educational and career pathways.

"The summit is planned for educators, those who work with a community group and anyone with an interest in education,” said Patricia Rehak, director of VC’s Institutional Effectiveness, Research & Assessment. “It has something for everyone. It’s designed to show that a pathway for a student going through higher education isn’t just going through a school system. It takes that community involvement to effectively educate the student.”

Concurrent breakout sessions are divided into tracks with topics specific to the following areas:

  • Bridging the Gap – Successfully navigating through the P-16 pathways of education, to include college readiness issues, curriculum alignment, advising for pathways and job skill readiness
  • Drawing the Connection to Student Success – Developing leadership and promoting a collaborative learning environment through completion, communication and collaboration
  • Golden Gate to Education – Implementing effective pedagogy such as active learning, assessment, curriculum strategies and other best practices

The cost for the two-day summit is $125, which covers all events along with breakfast and lunch.
