Community can explore VCs Vocational Nursing Program at two events

Prospective students in the Golden Crescent region have two opportunities to learn more about Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program. A VN Program Information Night will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at VC’s Gonzales Center, 424 E. Sarah DeWitt Drive in Gonzales. The VC Main Campus will hold a VN Program Information Night from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 in Room 132 of the Health Sciences Center.

Nursing instructors will be present at both events to share information and answer questions about the program. Representatives from VC’s Financial Aid office, as well as Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent, will also be available.

“We are very excited to promote the changes to our program, which now begins in the summer session instead of in August,” said Kim McClure, VC nursing instructor. “This change will allow our graduates to participate in the VC graduation right after successful completion of the program. We also have changed some of our prerequisites to assist in meeting the needs of the community, the employers and the Vocational Nursing Program at Victoria College.”

Information presented during both events includes:

  • Discussions on nursing as a career
  • The VN Program application process
  • New prerequisites for the VN Program
  • The nursing pathway in which VN Program graduates can bridge to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and become an RN in one year
  • Cost and expenses of the program
  • Financial aid options and application instructions
