Victoria College will host “VC Night at the Ballpark” on Thursday, June 25 at Riverside Stadium in Riverside Park. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7:05 p.m. The Victoria Generals will play the East Texas Pump Jacks.

“We invite the public to enjoy America’s favorite pastime, take part in fun contests, and connect with Victoria College faculty, staff and students in a fun and relaxed setting,” said Angelica Alvarado, event committee chair.

VC students, faculty and staff will participate in a pre-game party at 6 p.m. with free pizza, drinks and giveaways.

The first pitch will be delivered by Keith Blundell, VC vice president of administrative services. Willord Simmons, a recent Victoria East High School graduate who took music courses at Victoria College, will sing the national anthem.

Pirate-themed activities will take center stage between innings as VC students, employees, supporters and Generals fans compete for prizes. Volunteers from the stands can compete by delivering their best pirate “Arrgghh!” or participating in a relay race that involves picking up pretzels with hand-held pirate hooks. Captain Vic, the Victoria College mascot, will interact with the audience and show his moves in a dance-off contest with other mascots.

Regular admission tickets are $6, and tickets are $4 for VC students with a student ID. Free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis by calling Alvarado at (361) 572-6412.
