Victoria College will kick off the 2015-16 Lyceum Lecture Series with author and peace activist Zak Ebrahim's talk titled “My Father’s a Terrorist. “I’m Not.” The lecture will take place at noon Monday, Sept. 21 in the VC Sports Center. Monday is the International Day of Peace.

Ebrahim is the author of "The Terrorist’s Son: A Story of Choice." His message is one of peace and hope. Raised in the fires of fanaticism, Ebrahim overcame the murderous hatred that his father had hoped to pass on to him. His story is of a boy trained for violent hatred, and a man who embraced nonviolence instead.

Ebrahim’s unique path in life teaches us that bigotry and hatred is not a naturally occurring phenomenon – everyone has a choice, and that choice can be tolerance and empathy.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, call (361) 573-3291.
