VC's Nurse Aide Course

Registration is now open for Victoria College’s Nurse Aide course offered in Port Lavaca at the VC Calhoun County Center. Class begins Wednesday, Oct. 7 and will meet 5-8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday through Dec. 16. Tuition is $475.

The course prepares students for entry-level nursing assistance and provides a level of knowledge, skills and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. Those who complete the training will be eligible to take the Texas Nurse Aide Registry Exam to become a nurse aide.

Admission requirements for this course include:

  1. Social security number
  2. Valid photo ID
  3. Individual Department of Public Safety (DPS) background check
  4. Validation of immunizations, including:
    • 2 STEP PPD TB Test or record of annual TB test
    • Hepatitis B SERIES—includes 3 injections or blood test
  5. Minimum reading score of 585 on the TABE assessment
