VC Fine Arts Department hosts series of concerts

Victoria College’s Fine Arts Department will help spread holiday cheer through a series of concerts in early December.

To kick off the series, Victoria College’s Jazz Combo will be joined by jazz ensembles from Victoria East and Victoria West high schools for a jazz concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 in the Victoria East High School Auditorium, 4103 E. Mockingbird Drive. The concert is free and open to the public.

VC’s Jazz Combo performs under the direction of Jonathan Anderson, Victoria West High School’s Jazz Ensemble performs under the direction of Joshua Partida and Victoria East High School’s Jazz Ensemble performs under the direction of Carlos Gonzales.

The Victoria College Choir and Victoria Civic Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Marylynn Fletcher, will also host two holiday concerts at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 4102 N. Ben Jordan in Victoria.

The first is a Choral Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. Admission is $5 per person, and tickets are available at the door or from any Victoria Civic Chorus member.

The second performance will be a “Messiah Sing-along” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The sing-along is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. All singers and lovers of inspirational music are invited to attend and participate.
