VC offers Pirate Orientation make-up session Jan. 15
Pirate Orientation 2015
New Victoria College freshmen participate in active learning exercises during a Pirate Orientation session held in December.

New Victoria College freshmen who were unable to attend a Pirate Orientation session in December can now sign up to attend a make-up session scheduled for Friday, Jan. 15.

Students planning to enroll in courses at the VC Gonzales Center can also sign up to attend the Thursday, Jan. 7 session in Gonzales.

“Pirate Orientation is a requirement for new VC freshmen,” said Bobby Cubriel, director of Advising and Counseling Services. “We’ve structured the event with the intent of helping students transition into college life and orienting them to become successful college students.”

Students who hope to enroll in spring courses but who have not met the Pirate Orientation requirement can register for classes Jan. 4-14 at the Advising & Counseling Services Office.

“New students can come by our office the first two weeks of January to register, but they must attend the Pirate Orientation make-up session on Jan. 15 to avoid having their classes dropped,” said Cubriel.

During Pirate Orientation, students will create a degree plan and learn about their responsibilities as a VC student. Following the session, students will also be able to tour the campus, purchase books, make payments and get a student ID.

Victoria College’s administrative offices will be closed Dec. 19-Jan. 3 for Winter Break, but students can sign up for Pirate Orientation any time at VictoriaCollege.edu/PirateOrientation.
