Victoria College Foundation welcomes 5 new board members

The Victoria College Foundation recently welcomed Alicia Cowley, Ben Galvan, Kris McLain, Mike Rivet and Gary Worsham to its board of directors. The new directors round out a board made up of 29 community leaders who share a commitment to providing quality, affordable higher education for the Golden Crescent region.

“The nominating committee did a great job of recommending members from diverse backgrounds to join our board,” said Amy Mundy, VC Foundation executive director. “Each of the five new members brings additional expertize to help the VC Foundation meet the needs of our students, faculty, staff and communities.”

New VC Foundation board members are:

Alicia Cowley, who recently retired after 32 successful years in professional leadership in the nursing and healthcare industry. Cowley now volunteers her time and expertise to nonprofits in her community. She lives in Goliad with her husband, Gary.

Ben Galvan, the president of CivilCorp, LLC, with offices in Victoria, Houston, Round Rock, Yoakum and Corpus Christi, and president of Tierra Linda Investments, LLC . Galvan currently serves on several boards throughout the Victoria area. He lives in Victoria with his wife, Diana.

Kris McLain, one of the owners of Kitchen Pride Mushroom Farm. She and her husband, Greg, are proud that their company is the only family-owned, full-service, Texas-based mushroom farm in Texas. McLain also volunteers at the VC Gonzales Center and is involved in many worthy causes in Gonzales County.

Mike Rivet, the director of special projects for Formosa Plastics Corporation in Point Comfort. In addition to his career at Formosa, Rivet volunteers with organizations in both Victoria and Calhoun counties. He lives in Victoria with his wife, Tracy.

Gary Worsham, who recently retired after more than 40 years with Wells Fargo Wealth Management.  While at Wells Fargo, Worsham was engaged with the communities in which he lived and worked, and he will continue that legacy as a VC Foundation board member. He lives in Victoria with his wife, Marcy.

The VC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization responsible for securing financial resources and appropriately allocating them to support Victoria College and its students, faculty and academic programs.
