VCs Academy of Lifelong Learning open house spotlights spring courses
Kayaking 101
VC's Academy of Lifelong Learning offered its members a Kayaking 101 class in the fall.

Victoria College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning will host an open house from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts, 214 N. Main Street, in downtown Victoria.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is a member-driven organization for active adults, offering classes and social activities for continued intellectual and personal growth.

“The Academy provides participants an excellent opportunity to engage in study, discussions and social interactions with no tests, grades or pressure—just fun,” said Ashley Lindsey, VC’s Lifelong Learning Program Specialist. “Activities also allow members to expand and share their knowledge while meeting new friends and forming new social networks.”

The open house attendees will have the opportunity to view the spring schedule, join the Academy and visit with some of the instructors. Annual membership dues are $50, which entitles members to attend any of the courses and activities from fall to spring.

A sneak peek at some of the courses and activities slated for the spring include:

  • Coloring for Adults
  • Mediterranean Cooking Class
  • Chartered Bus Trip to the Painted Churches
  • The Great Goliad Tornado of 1902
  • Fitness Walking for Your Health
  • Stress-Busters for Family Caregivers
  • Whooping Cranes on the Texas Coast
  • The Texas Revolution
