VC showcases “Large, Medium, Small” exhibit

The “Large, Medium, Small” exhibit featuring the work of artist Elizabeth Payne will run Feb. 4-26 in the art gallery in Victoria College’s Fine Arts Building. The exhibit includes paintings and drawings ranging from abstractions to figurative images and landscapes of California, New York and Texas. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The public is also invited to meet Payne during an opening reception from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 in the art gallery.

“We excited to have the opportunity to showcase the talent of Elizabeth Payne,” said Cathleen Gordon, VC art instructor.

Payne’s work has been exhibited in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, the Beeville Art Museum in Beeville, and the Nave Museum in Victoria.

Payne received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and her Master of Arts from Hunter College, New York, NY.

The gallery is located on VC’s Main Campus in the Fine Arts Building, which faces Red River Street between the main entrance and entrance 6. The exhibit will be available for viewing from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
