“High out on the Asphalt” by Austin-based artist C.S. Gray will be on display at Victoria College beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 3 through 5 p.m. Friday, April 8 in the art gallery in VC’s Fine Arts Building. A reception featuring the artist will be held from 4-6 p.m. March 3.

The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The photographs include a series of large panoramic views of the Americas’ back roads, as well as smaller, more intimate observations of objects of daily life seen through the lens of pattern, light and abstraction. A group of smaller black and white photographs offer a poetic and more romantic view of the artist’s daily experiences.

It is Gray’s belief that at any time or place, regardless of light or subject, beauty can be found.

Gray recently moved to Austin from New York City, where he spent years working in commercial and travel photography. When not on the road the artist can be found at Canopy Studios in the heart of East Austin’s art community or at his music studio writing and recording the sound track of his journeys.

The gallery is located on VC’s Main Campus in the Fine Arts Building, which faces Red River Street between the main entrance and entrance 6. The exhibit will be available for viewing from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
