VC utilizing cutting-edge technology in A&P classes
Anatomage tables
Alejandro Enriquez, a biology professor at Victoria College, demonstrates a new Anatomage table to Victoria College Foundation members.

Victoria College recently purchased four Anatomage tables through a grant from the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation to assist anatomy and physiology students who are pursuing careers in the medical field.

The tables feature a touch-interactive display system and utilize 3D imaging software with life-size anatomy viewing and modeling tools. The technology can also be used for radiology, surgery case review and other research purposes. Digital models can be sent to 3D printers for production of laboratory models.

“It’s absolute cutting-edge technology,” said Alejandro Enriquez, a biology professor at VC. “Students who are excited about their education and excited to learn about the human body and how to work with it often find tremendous value in the tables as they learn how to utilize the technology and the interactive learning models the software provides.”

“Certainly, as far as introductory anatomy and for our nursing programs, this has been a huge advantage to be able to see the different parts of the body and see their relationship to each other.”

In the past, cadavers were considered one of the most effective ways of teaching anatomy. The Anatomage tables will provide instructors a more practical means to teach comprehensive anatomy.

“The M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation is proud to help Victoria College students who are going into medical programs go far beyond the course curriculum and have the opportunity to learn more about the human body from the Anatomage table thus further preparing them for the career ahead,” said Robert Halepeska, M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation Executive Vice President.
