Victoria College to display Camero’s artwork
Camero
This painting by Monica Marie Camero and others will be on display at Victoria College’s Fine Arts Building throughout October.

An opening reception for artist Monica Marie Camero’s work titled “Repeatable Steps” will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Victoria College’s Fine Arts Building.

Camero’s artwork will be on display at VC’s Fine Arts Building, located at 2200 E. Red River Street, through Oct. 28. Gallery hours will be noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Camero, a native of San Antonio, was educated at The University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in printmaking. She also studied at the California College of Arts in Oakland and completed her Masters of Fine Arts, again with a concentration in printmaking, and drawing.

“As an artist, these works simulate my experiences with history and design,” said Camero, who teaches art appreciation at Victoria College. “These pieces are exercises in form. Creating compositions, sometimes while traveling, need to be made quickly and without hesitation as part the process so to keep moving. The irony is that the end result is solid. There is stillness.”

The reception is free and open to the public.
