Cellist Justin Balli will be among the musicians performing at the Crossroads Strings Winter Concert on Dec. 5.

The Crossroads Strings Winter Concert, presented by Victoria College and the Victoria Symphony Society, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Victoria East High School Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

The group will be accompanied by the Crossroads Community Band on “A Christmas Festival” and will also perform works by Mendelssohn, Bach and a medley of English carols under the direction of Don Orser.

“It has been an honor to be part of such a talented group of musicians,” said Orser, who is in his first year of conducting Crossroads Strings and also conducts the orchestras at Victoria’s East and West high schools. “I am excited for this performance and know the community will be impressed with the quality of musicians.”

Crossroads Strings is comprised of Victoria College students who are earning college credit toward their music majors as well as musicians from the community.

“Crossroads Strings provides an opportunity for young string musicians to develop their talents with more experienced string players and provide the community quality performances,” VC Professor of Music and Fine Arts Department Chair Jonathan Anderson said.
