Twenty-seven Fall 2016 students of Victoria College’s Associate Degree Nursing Program received their nursing pins during a ceremony held Dec. 15 at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

VC Director of Nursing Darla Guajardo welcomed attendees to the event, and graduate Samantha Balajka led the invocation. Sherie Vrana was recognized as the student with the highest grade point average.

Other graduates were Miranda Armondo, Suzanne Ashley, Emily Beane, Brittany Brinkman, Donny Carroll, Brittny Cumming, Dena DeBord, Morgan Flowers, Katie Harjes, Meagan Harrell, Kyle Hernandez, Estella Hudlin, Sophia Gaines, Michelle Kinney, Alison Lopez, Tiffany Mangum, Allie Marak, Teresa Miller, Sara Orsak, Crystal Rhodes, Shelby Rivers, Gina Thompson and Craig Wood.

“It’s a big accomplishment in my life,” said Carroll, 39, who is working on the orthopedics floor at Citizens Medical Center. “I worked so hard for it. I never pictured myself to see this day. I had a few setbacks, but I kept pushing forward.”

Victoria College’s ADN Program offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing and is fully approved by the Texas Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Successful completion of the ADN Program enables graduates to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Satisfactory achievement on the exam qualifies graduates for licensure as a registered nurse.

VC’s Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing may also be combined with the core curriculum to transfer to a four-year university.
