Emerging Technology Complex recognized for architectural design
VCs Emerging Technology Complex was one of six educational facilities worldwide recognized for its architectural design by American School & University magazine.

Victoria College’s Emerging Technology Complex was recognized by the 2016 Architectural Portfolio for Outstanding Design in the November 2016 edition of American School & University magazine.

The Emerging Technology Complex, which is one of only 140 facilities in the nation to be certified by the International Association of Conference Centers, was one of six educational facilities worldwide recognized by the magazine.

“This recognition just reinforces the Victoria College commitment to excellence,” Emerging Technology Complex Manager Tempi McLeod said. “Thought and creativity went into the design of the facility in a collaborative effort between VC, community leaders and our architects.”

RMA Architects and its design team of Billy Berger, Brad Kocurek, Patrick Ohrt and Rawley McCoy was lauded for its work on the 116,000-square-foot project that was completed in April 2015.

“The Emerging Technology Complex represents Victoria College’s strategic focus on providing state-of-the-art facilities and education to our community,” VC Vice President for College Advancement and External Affairs Jennifer Yancey said in the magazine’s article.

“From the very beginning, Rawley McCoy and Associates’ professionals were involved in helping us fulfill that vision – from concept to benchmarking to design, functionality, construction and grand opening. The results exceeded our expectations. We could not be more pleased with the professionalism, attention to details and ultimate outcome.”

The Emerging Technology Complex, located at 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria, has become a top regional venue for conferences, meetings and other events, both public and private. The facility includes a three-story, 72,000-square-foot Conference and Education Center with a meeting hall that can accommodate up to 400 people and a two-story, 44,000-square-foot Industrial Training Center.

“Through our daily operations, we are putting it through ‘the paces’ as we assist in the planning and implementation of training, meetings, expos and other events designed to educate our community,” McLeod said. “This unique facility is putting Victoria on the map at a national level and is quickly becoming a busy venue.”
