Victoria College students will once again have an opportunity to win $1,000 scholarships in VC’s “What’s Your Story?” scholarship contest.

Students can enter by explaining in a short essay or video how education or training at Victoria College will shape their futures. Entries are due by Friday, April 7.

"This is a different type of scholarship; it's about the student and their path to the future," VC Development Director Susan Prukop said. "It can include key events in their lives, challenges, inspiration or what drives them to realizing their goals. It can be done in the format that is preferred by the student – video or essay. In addition to the $1,000 scholarship, the winning students become the face of Victoria College."

Students can visit VictoriaCollege.edu/WYS to complete the “What’s Your Story?” scholarship application and learn the contest’s guidelines and submission information.

Three Victoria College students were awarded “What’s Your Story?” scholarships in 2016. Carmen Radicke and Matthew Bridges won for their essay submissions and Alisa Killen won for her video submission.

“The scholarship not only benefited me financially, it also built my confidence to know that I am capable of writing a winning essay,” Radicke said.

“We all have a story. We want students to share their stories, highlighting key life events, challenges they’ve faced and sources of inspiration,” Prukop said. “One student’s story might inspire someone with similar circumstances, and the chance at winning a $1,000 scholarship is pretty enticing, too.” The funding for the scholarships is provided by the VC Foundation.

Winners will be announced in April and will share their stories at a VC Foundation Donor Appreciation Breakfast in August.
