Texas AHEC East-Victoria Region held its 10th Annual Gonzales Junior High School Health Careers Academy at Victoria College’s Gonzales Center on Jan. 27.

Eighteen seventh- and eighth-grade Gonzales Junior High School students were chosen to take part in the one-day event that was also sponsored by Victoria College, Gonzales Junior High School and Gonzales Healthcare Systems.  Students were able to connect with healthcare professionals in their community, learned about various career opportunities in the healthcare industry and received information on the healthcare and nursing programs at the Gonzales Center and VC’s Main Campus.

“The students also participated in hands-on and interactive sessions to learn skills necessary to become a healthcare professional,” said Jody Sanders, Texas AHEC East-Victoria Region senior program director.
