VC to host workshop by ceramics artist
Ceramics workshop
Jeff Forster

Victoria College will host a workshop by visiting ceramics artist Jeff Forster from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 in Room 113 of VC’s Fine Arts Building.

The cost for the event is $20. There will be no charge for all Victoria College students and employees. Guests  can preregister for the event by emailing Debra Chronister, VC art professor, at Debra.Chronister@VictoriaCollege.edu.

Forster, who acquired his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University, serves as the ceramics chair at Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts and Glassell School of Art. He currently sits on the Artist in Residence Committee at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and the Artist Advisory Committee for Fresh Arts.

“Having Jeff Forster as a visiting artist brings an entirely different aesthetic to campus,” Chronister said. “As a well-rounded ‘clayer,’ he makes massive sculptural forms and throws functional forms on the wheel. He will share some of his special techniques for making these forms in the workshop.”

Victoria College’s Fine Arts Building is located at 2200 E. Red River Street, between Entrances 6 and 7.
