Museum to offer “Toys of the Past” event during Spring Break

Guests to the Museum of the Coastal Bend on March 14-16 will be able to make of these “Toys of the Past” as part of the museum’s “Hands-On History” series.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend will provide a Spring Break activity for children and adults when it presents “Hands-On History: Toys of the Past” on March 14-16.

Visitors will be able to learn about and create their own old-fashioned toys beginning on Tuesday, March 14 with “Thaumatropes and Pinwheels.” Guests can create their own cornhusk dolls on Wednesday, March 15. “Ball-and-Triable and Whirligigs” will be offered on Thursday, March 16.

“These events are fun for the whole family and give guests an opportunity to participate in interactive activities,” said Sue Prudhomme, Victoria College’s executive director of cultural affairs. “Guests can come and go throughout the day to enjoy this event and other exhibits in the museum.”

The museum, located at 2200 E. Red River Street on the campus of Victoria College, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The regular admission is “pay-what-you-want.”
