Cathleen Gordon residency
Cathleen Gordon, art instructor at Victoria College, was awarded a one-month residency in New York’s Main Street Arts gallery.

Victoria College art instructor Cathleen Gordon has been awarded a month-long residency this summer through Main Street Arts, a gallery of contemporary art in Clifton Springs, New York.

Gordon will have 24-hour access to a 200-square-foot studio and exhibit her work in the Main Street Arts gallery in June.

“The thing that makes me the most excited is the fact that this residency was based solely on my work,” Gordon said. “This is my first residency. I am not sure exactly what work will be in the show yet, but it will be from my most current portfolio that has been created in the last year.”

Gordon, who obtained her Masters of Fine Arts from Fort Hays State University, specializes in mixed media painting, drawing, collage and cut paper. She has been an instructor at Victoria College for four years. Her works can be viewed at

“I am absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to not only create art but to immerse myself in a new environment,” Gordon said. “Adventures are good for the artistic soul.”
