Welder Center to present live cinema performances of Shakespeare

A live cinema screening of “The Tempest” on Sunday, March 26 will kick off a four-part Royal Shakespeare Company of London series to be presented at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

The Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts and Theatre Victoria are partnering to present encore cinema screenings of live theatrical performances from the Royal Shakespeare Company of London beginning Sunday, March 26 with “The Tempest.”

There will be four screenings through Sept. 24. “Julius Caesar” will be presented on Sunday, June 11; “Antony and Cleopatra” will be shown on Monday, June 26; and “Titus Andronicus” will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 24. All screen times will be at 2 p.m.

“The Leo J. Welder Center is excited to offer these classic performances to the community,” said Sue Prudhomme, Victoria College executive director of cultural affairs. “These cinema broadcasts will offer audiences a unique opportunity to enjoy Shakespeare’s classic plays utilizing state-of-the-art digital technology.”
