VC Choir, Victoria Civic Chorus to present spring concert

Victoria College Music Professor Dr. Marylynn Fletcher will conduct three choral groups at the Spring 2017 Choir Concert on March 31 at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

The Victoria College Choir, Victoria Choraliers and Victoria Civic Chorus will perform their Spring 2017 Choir Concert on Friday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

“The event will feature music in a variety of styles and languages,” said Victoria College Music Professor Dr. Marylynn Fletcher, who will conduct the choral groups. “It’s an eclectic program with music from every era.”

The VC Choir will sing “Castanets Are Sounding” and from Nocturnes by classical composer W.A. Mozart. The Victoria Choraliers will sing selections ranging from Brahms to Billy Joel.

The Victoria Civic Chorus will sing selections by Renaissance composer Thomas Morley and Romantic composer C. Hubert H. Parry. The choirs will combine to perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Dance a Cachucha.”

Glenn Hunter will accompany the groups on piano. The event is free and open to the public.

The Leo J. Welder Center is located at 214 N. Main Street in Victoria.
