VC student to perform recital on April 11

Victoria Collegeís Samuel Gross will perform his sophomore recital on Tuesday, April 11 at Our Saviourís Lutheran Church in Victoria.

Victoria College sophomore Samuel Gross will perform a recital hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Victoria.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Students must pass a recital hearing before they are allowed to schedule a student recital. Gross, a tenor, will transfer to Texas A&M-Kingsville, where he received a scholarship from its music department. He participated one year as a member of the Texas All-State Men’s Choir and two years as a member of the Two-Year College All-State Choir. Gross will complete his first two years of music courses at VC in May.

“Sam is one of the finest tenors to attend Victoria College in many years,” said VC Music Professor Dr. Marylynn Fletcher. “His VC private voice instructor, Eugenie Fuhrman, has helped him make immense progress in his singing technique and interpretation. He has been a great asset to our department and choirs.”

The program will include works from a variety of composers spanning the Renaissance to Contemporary eras. He will sing in English, Italian, German and Spanish.
